Model, Band in a bottle
Shared by
Te Hikoi Museum
A model of an eight piece Scottish pipe band in a clear glass bottle. Displayed on a painted wooden base in traditional Scottish kilts, tartans and bonnets. This model is unusual not only for its subject matter but also how the model was put into the bottle. Usually they were either crafted outside the bottle with the tall elements pulled upright once inside or they were made in the bottle with long-handled tools. This model though was put in, already completed, by removing the base of the bottle and then covering the base with the textile.
