box, black painted tin, circular base, straight sides, brass fastenings, hinge, name plate on the top, plate reads: E M FRASER Royal New Zealand Navy ditty box (or cap box) Belonged to Able Seaman Earle Maurice Fraser, WW2. After the war he used it for keeping valuable papers. During WW2 NZ3754 Able Seaman Earle Maurice Fraser served in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy and later in the Royal New Zealand Navy from October 1941 to November 1945, including service on HMNZS Achilles, Tamaki, Philomel, Monowai, etc. He received his discharge with the rank of Leading Seaman (Radar), Temporary.
