Four piece wedding dress comprising a cream silk and French lace bodice, a cumberbund, skirt and petticoat worn by Mary Lavinia (Polly) Hancock at her marriage to Robert Toms in 1911. The silk and French lace bodice has a high lace collar, a pleated top with a V shaped lace overlay, scalloped edging with hand embroidered loops, half rosettes at the bottom of front and back with covered buttons. The bodice is buttoned down the back with white pearl buttons. The long sleeves are pleated and gathered, with lace edged cuffs and embroidered loops fastened by a metal hook and eye with short sleeves over the top also decorated with lace and loops. The pleated cumberbund, fastened by hooks has two rosettes at the front, hand embroidered loops and a large silk bow at the back. The silk skirt has a narrow waistband and six topstitched panels attached with hooks at the back. The back panels are pleated, the front is gathered. The hem has two rows of embroidered loops. The petticoat is white cotton with a broderie anglaise frill attached at the bottom.
