Vintage Radio

Shared by
Mangawhai Museum

A vintage radio c 1930's manufactured by Stewart-Warner. It has a wooden exterior with rounded edges and a speaker grill design on the front, which is typical of older radio models. Below the speaker grill, there’s a circular dial likely used for tuning, along with knobs for volume control or changing frequency bands. Stewart-Warner produced its first radio in 1925. It purchased O & T Tube (New York City), who previously made tubes for Silvertone, and Stewart-Warner soon were building radios at the rate of 1,000 per day. Stewart-Warner produced its last radio in 1954.
