Egyptian red ware bowl

Shared by
UC Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities

This bowl is a polished red ware vessel. It features a sharp carination (ridge-like structure) about two thirds of the way down the body. The wide open mouth is asymmetrical, much closer to the base on one side than the other. The base is small, flat and circular. Vessels of this type are characteristic of the pre-dynastic period in Egypt. [Accession number: 231.22.17]
