Fiordland or Te Rua-o-Te-Moko - Fiordland Historic Cruises, Lake Te Anau: Fiordland Historic Cruises adventure offering sounds like something out of this world... "Treat yourself to a life-long memory, a connection with the past, in one of the most beautiful places in the world." Current owner Adam and partner Megan tell us, "We currently operate as a tourism experience exploring the fresh water fiords of Lake Te Anau. Our Day trips travel to the Hidden Lakes where guests have the opportunity to explore the national park and our champagne cruise enjoys the secluded bays across from the township. We also offer charters and Overnight cruises." FAITH'S STORY: Further to the above, Adam and Megan explain that, they have completed an autobiography of their vessel M.Y. Faith, and are selling these as a way to continue her restoration and to keep her operational. Faith is a 1935 Scottish built Motor Yacht (M.Y.) and made her way to New Zealand in 1980-1981. Originally landing in Whangarei, Faith has had various owners in New Zealand before finding her way to Te Anau in 2014. Get in quick if you are interested in obtaining a copy of this fabulous book, the contact details are in place notes below. Their website (address in Place notes), expands on 'Faith's' background: "Our vessel 'Faith' has such a unique story beginning her life as a Private Motor Yacht for Cuthbert Willan who commissioned her build in 1935 in Scotland. Designed by Alfred Mylne and built by Dickie in Son’s, Faith unique construction makes her one of a kind. Faith’s restoration is ongoing and every effort is made by the Fiordland Historic Cruises team to ensure she will be around for at least another 90 years! She’s had many owners over the years, many of whom consider themselves custodian’s rather than owners. How she came to be on Lake Te Anau is a story of true adventure, you’ll just have to join us to find out more…." We suggest you do just that! Fiordland Historic Cruises are also committed to ongoing sustainability and protecting the environment, so you can be assured that when you travel with them, you too are doing your part to preserve this beautiful treasure. ARCHIVIST'S NOTE: Some happy customers of Faith's have provided photos of their trip on her in the past, which can be seen elsewhere in these online collections. If you have any accounts of trips or photographs of journeys with 'Faith' over the years, however recent, please make a comment in the space provided under the image page, or make contact via the archive email on the front page, if you would like these shared in our Community Archives online Collections. Sharing our history of the communities we belong to, enriches all of us, and ensures that our legacy of heritage continues into the future.
