Pair of Britains Hedges

Shared by
Western Bay Museum

Britains is a British toy manufacturer, best known for its detailed die-cast metal toy soldiers and miniature farm sets. Founded in 1893 by William Britain Jr., the company revolutionized toy production with hollow-cast lead figures, making them lighter and more affordable. Over the years, Britains expanded its range to include not just military figures, but also trees, gates, shrubbery, and other accessories to create realistic dioramas and farm scenes. These elements added depth and playability to their sets, allowing children (and collectors) to build entire miniature worlds. Today, Britains is recognized as a classic brand in the world of collectible and play-scale models.
