Kemp House is New Zealand’s oldest building and first substantial European home. Built amidst turbulence and war, under the protection of Hongi Hika of nearby Kororipo Pa, its simple tranquil presence belies the struggles and hopes of the missionaries who built it, and the hard work of the families both Maori and European, who lived there. Experienced guides bring these stories to life.

Open for business since 1836, the Stone Store offers a shopping experience like no other. Selling authentic trade goods similar to the items that were first traded here in the early years of the 19th century along with a quirky range of uniquely New Zealand merchandise, this is a great shopping experience in New Zealand for both domestic and international visitors alike.
