This museum, unique in the southern hemisphere, houses a vast collection of examples across the whole range of audio - visual arts and associated sciences equipment including radio, television, photography, cinema and recorded sound. It also has a 200 seat working film theatre that screens to service clubs, groups and educational establishments as well as to Cine Club members.
Much of the collection still works, and the volunteers can demonstrate a range of cameras, record players and sound equipment. Some of the collection is part of Radio Foxton which broadcasts 24/7 from the museum on 105.4FM.
